The VA Health and Benefits app has become a one-stop tool for managing health care, benefits and payments.
More than 4.6 million veterans now use the mobile service, and the Department of Veterans Affairs has added two major features in 2026: lab results and benefit overpayment debt tools.
New features in 2026
1. View lab results
Veterans can now see many lab and test results directly in the app:

Open the Health section.

Tap Medical records, then Labs and tests.

Sort results by date range and review detailed information.
Results appear as soon as they are available in your VA medical record.
2. Manage benefit overpayments
The app now shows overpayment debts related to disability compensation, pension and education benefits:

Open the Payments section.

Tap Overpayments.
-
View your balance, debt status, when the debt started and which benefit program is involved.
From the same screen, you may be able to:

Make a payment.

Request financial assistance.

Dispute the debt.
If you have no active overpayments, the app will show a message confirming that none are listed.

How to get started
If you already use the app, you do not need to enroll in a separate service to access lab results or debt tools. Just:

Update to the latest version of the VA: Health and Benefits app in your app store.

Sign in with your existing VA login credentials.

Navigate to Health > Medical records > Labs and tests for results.

Navigate to Payments > Overpayments for debt information.
